MSC is an evidence-based 8-week, training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. Based on the groundbreaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer, MSC teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness, care and understanding. Participants learn to stop being so hard on themselves, to motivate themselves with kindness rather than criticism, to handle difficult emotions with more ease, to handle caregiver stress with more ease, and more! Research has shown that MSC training results in increases in self-compassion, mindfulness, and compassion for others; decreases in depression, anxiety, stress, and emotional avoidance; and, increases in social connectedness, life satisfaction, and happiness. This course is wonderful for not only for personal growth, but also for Clinical Skill Development for those in helping professions. No previous experience with meditation required. Natalie Sobel and Mary Linda Burgess are grateful to offer this 8-week course in Hamilton once again and hope to do so IN PERSON (yay!) beginning October 18. If we go into lockdown again, we will pivot to an online platform.
