Mindfulness Hamilton Today
Mindfulness Hamilton is a volunteer-led, community organization with a mission to weave mindfulness into the fabric of everyday life across the Hamilton area. Our goal is to support inner peace and personal growth, both individually and as a community.
Our volunteers, members, and those we serve reflect the rich diversity of the Greater Hamilton Area. A group of dedicated volunteers, called the Core Committee, helps guide our activities, which are carried out as well by other volunteer sub-committees. We believe in making decisions together, strong relationships, and embodying mindfulness in everything we do.
We are a community of practice that has offered mindfulness learning and practice opportunities to thousands of individuals across Hamilton, helping them enhance their personal well-being and development. This work is only possible thanks to the ongoing support of our dedicated members and volunteers, whose contributions sustain our efforts.
As a secular and independent organization, Mindfulness Hamilton welcomes everyone, regardless of background. We honour the wisdom and contributions of religious, cultural, secular, and scientific traditions that shape our modern understanding of mindfulness.

Our Roots
Mindfulness Hamilton was founded in 2013 by a compassionate group of local professionals from healthcare, education, and leadership fields. Many of our founders were inspired by the Discovering Resilience Collaboration,* a groundbreaking initiative led by Dr. Andrea Frolic, in partnership with Hamilton’s major healthcare institutions. The aim of this project was to help healthcare providers pause, reconnect with their own bodies and suffering, and rediscover their true calling as healers.
The founding Core Committee understood the transformative power of mindfulness and committed to spreading awareness, knowledge, and programs throughout Hamilton. This dedication laid the foundation for our mission to integrate mindfulness into the fabric of the Hamilton community. We are deeply grateful that one of our founding members, Dr. Ken Burgess, continues to advise and support our current Core Committee.
