Navigating Mental Health Resources

Navigating the mental health system can feel overwhelming!  This workshop will help participants understand the different types of mental health and community resources available, how to find them, and how to access services effectively.

Participants will learn about the roles of various mental health professionals, where to search for supports, and practical strategies for overcoming common barriers such as waitlists, eligibility requirements, and lack of information.  The session will also explore how individuals can support friends or family members who may be seeking help.

This workshop is intended for community members, caregivers, and anyone interested in learning how to better navigate mental health resources for themselves or others.

By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Identify different types of community and mental health resources
  • Understand the roles of different mental health professionals
  • Locate reliable directories and tools for finding services
  • Understand the process of accessing services (intake, eligibility, referrals, parental consent)
  • Recognize common barriers to accessing care and strategies to overcome them
