Being Unblended: Effortless Mindfulness Meets Internal Family Systems with Dr. Kimberly Sogge C.Psych

What if healing didn’t require efforting your way to peace, but instead relaxing into the Self that’s already here? In this experiential talk, clinical psychologist and mindfulness teacher Dr. Kimberly Sogge will explore the intersection of Loch Kelly’s Effortless Mindfulness and Richard Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems (IFS)—two elegant, compassionate approaches to awakening and psychological healing.

Together, we will:

  1. Explore how the IFS model of “Self” aligns with the open-hearted awareness of effortless mindfulness
  2. Practice gentle “glimpse” meditations that unhook us from the thinking mind into a spacious, loving presence.
  3. Learn how to unblend from reactive parts without suppressing or bypassing them
  4. Discover how Self-led presence can become a trustworthy inner refuge in daily life and in therapeutic work

Whether you’re a clinician, a meditator, or simply someone seeking a kinder relationship with yourself, this session will offer tools for integrating nondual awareness and parts work into your mindfulness journey.

Dr. Kimberly Sogge C.Psych is a Canadian Psychologist and the founder of Ottawa River Integrative Mental Health Inc., a hybrid group practice offering evidence-based psychology and psychotherapy focused on wellbeing and growth. She completed her academic training at McGill University and her doctoral training in Texas at both Texas A&M University and the University of Texas at Austin. After completing her Ph.D., she returned to Canada to raise her children as Canadians and to serve in clinical and leadership roles within hospital-based mental health care.

At Ottawa River, Dr. Sogge integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS), nondual mindfulness, and compassion science in her work with clients and clinicians alike.

She is a member of the international Plum Village mindfulness community founded by Zen teacher Thích Nhất Hạnh, and host of Dr. Sogge: The Art and Science of Thriving, a podcast exploring how psychological science and contemplative wisdom can support human flourishing.
