SUMMARY:Mindful Self Compassion
DESCRIPTION:Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an evidence-based\, 8-week\, training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. Based on the groundbreaking research of Dr. Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Dr. Christopher Germer\, MSC teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness\, care and understanding. \n \nSelf-compassion can be learned by anyone\, even those who feel uncomfortable when they are good to themselves. It is a courageous attitude that stands up to harm– including the harm that we unwittingly inflict on ourselves through self-criticism\, self-isolation\, or self-absorption. Self-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience\, allows us to admit and accept our shortcomings\, motivate ourselves with kindness\, forgive ourselves when needed\, relate wholeheartedly to others\, and be more authentically ourselves. Rapidly expanding research demonstrates that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being\, less anxiety\, less depression and stress\, maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise\, and more satisfying personal relationships. And it is easier than you think! \nTaught by MSC Trained Teachers\, Mary Linda Burgess and Natalie Sobel. For more information\, see email and website below. \nNote: there will not be a class on Family Day Feb 15 2021.

SUMMARY:An Introduction to Mindful Self Compassion with Barb Smith: a free evening workshop
DESCRIPTION:Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically-supported program designed to cultivate self-compassion and is based on the groundbreaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Chritopher Germer. \nMindfulness opens us to the present moment. Kindness and compassion opens our hearts to suffering so that we can give ourselves what we need. Common humanity opens us to our inter-relatedness so that we realize that we are not alone. \nResearch has demonstrated that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being\, less anxiety\, depression and stress\, maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise and satisfying personal relationships. MSC practices enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness\, care\, and understanding. \nStudies confirm that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being; less anxiety\, depression and stress; maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise and more satisfying personal relationships!  And it is easier than you think. \nConsider attending this workshop if you are experiencing: \n\nirritability\nburn out or care-giver fatigue                                             \ndifficult emotions\nrelentless inner critic\nshame and other negative emotions\njudgment towards others\ndifficulty in interpersonal relationships\nrumination\nlittle joy or appreciation in your life\nsuffering\n\nA moment of self-compassion can change your entire day.
