DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\n\n\nLearn more about Dr. Soloway’s wellness programs on Wednesday\, April 15th @ 1PM EST! \n\n\n\n\nWhile traditional mindfulness often begins in stillness\, its greatest impact is revealed in life’s most demanding moments. In this session\, Dr. Geoffrey Soloway\, founder of MindWell-U\, shares his Mindfulness-in-Action methodology\, a framework designed to support real-time self-regulation\, focus\, and resilience with five research studies illustrating both the personal well-being benefits and application to professional performance. \nDrawing on over 20 years of research and experience developing innovative workplace mental wellness programs\, Geoff will trace the evolution of MindWell Take 5 technique\, a cue-based mindfulness practice that has served over 150\,000 unique users since 2016. \nThe talk also explores the intersection of mindfulness and technology\, including the MindWell AI Coach\, which leverages a unique tool to provide support and guidance on the MindWell platform\, as well as capabilities for customizing new content and programs. \nGeoff will further highlight the next phase\, MindWell House\, a boutique performance training facility in Victoria\, BC\, integrating Heart Rate Variability (HRV) biofeedback\, 5 acres of nature\, and thermal contrast (sauna and cold immersion) to create a reset for today’s leaders and teams. \nDr. Geoffrey Soloway\, PhD\, Founder of MindWell-U\, holds a PhD and Master’s in Education from the University of Toronto\, specializing in mindfulness and holistic well-being\, and a certificate in Organizational Coaching from the University of British Columbia. His personal pursuits include completing a Yoga Teacher Training in 2002\, participating in a month-long silent meditation retreat in 2007. SUMMARY:Mindfulness Compassion and Racism: An Anti-Oppressive Approach to Adult Education\, Thursday Feb 5 12-1PM
DESCRIPTION:A  FREE  Mindfulnes Toronto Community Event on line workshop (Zoom) \nMindfulness practice has been shown to deepen self-awareness\, strengthen our capacity to regulate emotions\, and support healthier relationships with others. It is also a key component of compassion\, which begins with awareness and clear seeing into our stress and suffering\, both individual and collective. Compassion involves acknowledging this stress and suffering\, together with the wish\, or the actions\, to help alleviate it. \nWhile mindfulness and compassion are increasingly recognized for their benefits\, there has been limited research exploring how these practices are experienced by racialized adults. In this presentation\, I will draw from my research to explore how people who identify as Indigenous or Black\, South or East Asian\, Middle Eastern\, and other ethnic minorities living in Canada (referred to here as BIPOC—Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Colour) experience racism or oppression\, and how mindfulness or compassion practices\, integrated with ancestral\, community\, and cultural practices may support them in processing these experiences \nThe broader aim of this work is to expand understanding and support educators and clinicians in developing anti-oppressive\, inclusive\, and culturally sensitive approaches to mindfulness-based education and care. By grounding mindfulness and compassion in lived realities\, this research seeks to contribute to practices that genuinely support well-being and autonomy among BIPOC individuals and communities. \nIn addition to discussion\, the session includes an experiential component. Participants are invited to engage in mindfulness and compassion practices\, along with guided reflection\, to explore how these approaches might be thoughtfully integrated into their own teaching\, clinical practice\, or research. \nAbout the presenter \nRose Mina Munjee is a PhD candidate in Education at the University of Reading in the UK. She has written for DIME\, Canadian Journal of Buddhist Studies\, and Mindful.org. She developed and taught “Mindfulness-Informed Interventions for Mental Health” at the University of Toronto and curated a speaker series entitled\, “Diverse Perspectives in Mindfulness and Mental Health.” She is a Registered Psychotherapist and certified teacher\, mentor\, and teacher trainer of evidence based Mindfulness programs (MBSR\, MBCT\, MSC). She develops curricula and has taught mindfulness-based interventions at the Center for Mindful Self Compassion\, the Centre for Mindfulness Studies\, the University of Toronto\, UCSD Mindfulness\, and for various corporations and in healthcare. Rose Mina has practiced insight meditation since 2007 and is a community meditation teacher with True North Insight where she runs groups\, retreats\, and nature walks and is a co-founder of Mindful Earth Refuge\, a Toronto-based\, in person\, EcoDharma monthly practice group. She is a BIPOC woman of South Asian origin and is originally from South Africa. \nTO REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT GO TO EVENT BRITE

SUMMARY:Mindful Parenting: a Free Mindfulness Toronto Community Meeting with Dr. Marina Heifetz Tuesday July 8 12:00 PM to 1 PM EST
DESCRIPTION:“The wonderful gift of mindfulness is that we can stop ourselves and ask: What am I feeling? What is it like from my child’s point of view? When you can do that\, you often see things that you didn’t let yourself see before because you were so caught up in the reactive mode\, which is very limiting.” \n~Myla Kabat-Zinn \nThis month\, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Marina Heifetz\, a registered clinical psychologist and founder of Mindful Kids Psychology and Wellness Centre. Drawing from over a decade of mindfulness practice personally and professionally\, Dr. Heifetz will share how mindfulness-based approaches can bring intentional awareness\, presence\, and compassion into family life. Whether you’re a parent\, caregiver\, or simply curious about mindful living\, all are warmly welcome to join us. \nINCORPORATING MINDFULNESS TO SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH OF CHILDREN\, YOUTH AND PARENTS WITH DR. MARINA HEIFETZ\, Ph.D.\, C. Psych \n \nDuring this meeting\, I look forward to sharing how I’ve incorporated mindfulness-based work into therapeutic supports with children\, youth\, and their parents. I will introduce various examples of ways mindfulness can be incorporated to bring intentional awareness and presence\, including self-compassion and breathing practices. \nDr. Marina Heifetz is a registered clinical psychologist specializing in working with children\, adolescents\, and families. She is the owner and clinical director of Mindful Kids Psychology and Wellness Centre. She is passionate about research that contributes to development of appropriate supports for vulnerable populations. She has also been actively volunteering as the Clinical Director with the Special Olympics Strong Minds program since 2016. \nMindfulness has been a powerful\, life-changing experience for Marina; with her knowledge and understanding of it starting 14 years-ago\, when she first became a parent. Her foundational training in MBSR and thereafter various mindfulness-based workshops and conferences have influenced the way she approaches mindfulness practices personally and professionally. \nIn her therapeutic work\, she is particularly drawn to intertwining mindfulness-based strategies in combination with modalities like CBT and ACT to build a strong foundation of awareness and self-compassion. Her ultimate mission is to provide a safe and compassionate space for families to develop resilience. \nDiscover More:\nhttps://mkpsychologycentre.com/ \nTo Register go to Event Brite

SUMMARY:Cultivating Presence & Self-Compassion for Therapists’ Self-Care with Dr. Shari Geller\, Ph.D.\, C. Psych
DESCRIPTION:A MINDFULNESS TORONTO PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY MEETING\n\nPlease join Dr. Shari Geller for a talk on therapeutic presence (TP)\, self-compassion\, and self-care for therapists. Offering compassionate care\, sustained attention\, and psychotherapy\, without a balance of compassion and care for self\, can lead to burn-out and exhaustion. \nThis talk will explore the relationship of mindful self-compassion (Neff and Germer\, 2018) and therapeutic presence (Geller\, 2017; Geller & Greenberg\, 2012\, 2023)\, with a particular focus on effective therapeutic relationships and therapist well-being. Since presence and self-compassion need to be directly experienced to be understood\, this will include a brief introduction to the topic and experiential practice. \nTherapeutic presence is a way of being that optimises the doing and techniques of therapy and for clinical relationships. TP provides clients with a sense of safety\, allowing them to be seen\, heard\, understood\, and “feel felt\,” while also strengthening the therapeutic alliance. TP also invites clinicians to work on their own balance of presence and compassion with self and clients\, ensuring they remain centred and effective. \nSelf-compassion is a key resource in maintaining clinicians’ presence and working with the barriers to presence. SC involves meeting our emotions and difficult experience with mindfulness\, common humanity\, kindness\, and warmth. Research shows that self- compassion is also strongly associated with emotional well-being\, healthy habits\, and more fulfilling relationships. \nTherapeutic presence and self-compassion are key underlying factors in effective therapeutic relationships and are intimately related to one another. Self-compassion allows clinicians to return to presence when they are challenged by difficult emotions or stress. Together\, therapeutic presence and self-compassion are powerful resources for counsellors to maintain emotional balance in the midst of challenging clinical work and\nto prevent caregiver fatigue and burn-out. \nDr. Shari Geller is an author\, clinical psychologist\, and certified Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) teacher\, offering training modules in therapeutic presence internationally as part of a longer-term vision of having presence be a foundational training across psychotherapy approaches. Shari co-authored the book\, Therapeutic Presence: A Mindful Approach to Effective Therapeutic Relationships – 2 nd  Edition (2022) with Dr. Leslie Greenberg. Shari’s book: A Practical Guide For Cultivating Therapeutic Presence (2017)\, offers hands on tools and guidance for cultivating and strengthening presence in therapy. Shari is a co-editor on a new book: Grounding Psychotherapy in Self-Compassion (2025). \nShari is the co-director of the Centre for MindBody Health\, in Toronto\, where she offers training\, supervision and therapy in Emotion-Focused therapy (EFT) and Mindfulness and Self-Compassion modalities for individuals and couples. She is a therapist\, supervisor\, and trainer in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). Shari serves on the teaching faculty in Health Psychology at York University and is Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto\, in association with Music and Health Research Collaboratory (MaHRC). She is a co-developer and part of the core faculty of the Self-Compassion in Psychotherapy (SCIP) certificate program and is Membership and Networking Committee Chair for the International Society for Emotion Focused Therapy (isEFT). Shari enjoys playing the HandPan and djembe and founded the Therapeutic Rhythm and Mindfulness Program (TRM™). Her love of nature and her dogs\, along with her 35-year personal meditation practice help to keep her present in the moment. \nFor more about Shari click on:  https://www.sharigeller.ca/ or  https://www.cmbh.ca/ \nFor more information about Mindfulness Toronto go to: https://mindfulnesstoronto.net/ \nLive Online Via Zoom: Register on Eventbrite by clicking the Website: Link Below
