SUMMARY:Discovering Resilience Through Applied Mindfulness (DRAM) 1: Foundations of Mindfulness: Historical Origins and Contemporary Practice
DESCRIPTION:Through this course\, participants will:\n• Identify the knowledge and skills necessary to\nbegin a mindfulness practice\n• Experience basic mindfulness meditation\npractices\n• Explore strategies that support reflection of self\nin relation to our work and personal lives\n• Identify opportunities to integrate basic\nmindfulness practices and strategies into our\nlives \nAbout the Course:\nMindfulness is the skill of paying attention to the present\nmoment as it unfolds without judgment\, and is both a\npractice and a way of living. These principles and practices\nare being embraced by corporations\, healthcare\norganizations and teaching institutions as a means to bring\nfocus\, calm\, creativity and resilience to the workplace.\nWith a history spanning 2500 years\, mindfulness can be\nused in our modern world to deepen compassion for\nourselves and others\, and to help manage stress in our\nwork and home lives.\nThere is mounting scientific evidence that these ancient\npractices and concepts have positive impacts on our\nbrains\, minds\, bodies\, behaviors and relationships.\nParticipants in this workshop will be introduced to the\nhistory and science of mindfulness\, and discover\nopportunities for integration in education\, healthcare and\ndaily life.
