SUMMARY:Mindful Parenting: a Free Mindfulness Toronto Community Meeting with Dr. Marina Heifetz Tuesday July 8 12:00 PM to 1 PM EST
DESCRIPTION:“The wonderful gift of mindfulness is that we can stop ourselves and ask: What am I feeling? What is it like from my child’s point of view? When you can do that\, you often see things that you didn’t let yourself see before because you were so caught up in the reactive mode\, which is very limiting.” \n~Myla Kabat-Zinn \nThis month\, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Marina Heifetz\, a registered clinical psychologist and founder of Mindful Kids Psychology and Wellness Centre. Drawing from over a decade of mindfulness practice personally and professionally\, Dr. Heifetz will share how mindfulness-based approaches can bring intentional awareness\, presence\, and compassion into family life. Whether you’re a parent\, caregiver\, or simply curious about mindful living\, all are warmly welcome to join us. \nINCORPORATING MINDFULNESS TO SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH OF CHILDREN\, YOUTH AND PARENTS WITH DR. MARINA HEIFETZ\, Ph.D.\, C. Psych \n \nDuring this meeting\, I look forward to sharing how I’ve incorporated mindfulness-based work into therapeutic supports with children\, youth\, and their parents. I will introduce various examples of ways mindfulness can be incorporated to bring intentional awareness and presence\, including self-compassion and breathing practices. \nDr. Marina Heifetz is a registered clinical psychologist specializing in working with children\, adolescents\, and families. She is the owner and clinical director of Mindful Kids Psychology and Wellness Centre. She is passionate about research that contributes to development of appropriate supports for vulnerable populations. She has also been actively volunteering as the Clinical Director with the Special Olympics Strong Minds program since 2016. \nMindfulness has been a powerful\, life-changing experience for Marina; with her knowledge and understanding of it starting 14 years-ago\, when she first became a parent. Her foundational training in MBSR and thereafter various mindfulness-based workshops and conferences have influenced the way she approaches mindfulness practices personally and professionally. \nIn her therapeutic work\, she is particularly drawn to intertwining mindfulness-based strategies in combination with modalities like CBT and ACT to build a strong foundation of awareness and self-compassion. Her ultimate mission is to provide a safe and compassionate space for families to develop resilience. \nDiscover More:\nhttps://mkpsychologycentre.com/ \nTo Register go to Event Brite
