SUMMARY:Mindful Self-Compassion 8-Week Course
DESCRIPTION:From the research of Dr. Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Dr. Chris Germer\, Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is a mindfulness-based training course in self-compassion. Research has shown that Self-Compassion training often leads to less stress\, anxiety\, and depression; more optimism\, happiness\, and gratitude; more effective regulation of negative emotions; increased ability to care-give without burning out; more resilience when faced with life challenges; increased motivation; more conscientiousness; closer and more functional relationships; higher levels of self-esteem without falling into the traps laid out by the quest for high self-regard; more likely to engage in helpful behaviours such as exercise and eating right; more grit and determination to reach goals. The 8-week course consists of 40+ practices\, exercises\, small and large group discussions that promote resilience. Learn to tame your inner critical voice and motivate yourself with kindness\, bring clarity to core values\, improve emotional well-being\, and increase life satisfaction. Note that MSC is not a substitute for individual psychotherapy. Natalie Sobel\, MSW\, RSW\, is a Trained Teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion from the Center for Self-Compassion and  is excited to be teaching this course and assisted by a dear colleague who has quite a bit of experience with the MSC program. Participants in this course will need to have masks ON due to Natalie’s auto-immune condition. Classes will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm\, from February 8 to March 29; plus a retreat on Sunday\, March 12.  The venue is fully accessible with no stairs\, and there is a parking lot in front. Venue is on Chatham St. off of Dundurn Ave. Cost is $475 and there is an Early Bird Rate before January 22 of $425. A few Partial Scholarship spots are available. For more information or to register\, please email natalie.msc@bell.net.
