SUMMARY:Incorporating a Decolonization Process Into Mindfulness and Self-Compassion with Jaisa Sulit
DESCRIPTION:Featuring: Jaisa Sulit\, registered OT(Ontario) \nThis will be an evening of storytelling by Jaisa Sulit where attendees will hear about how decolonization has: \n\nAffected her mindfulness and self-compassion practice\,\nExpanded her views on rest\,\nChanged the way that she teaches mindfulness and self-compassion\, and\nDeepened her relationship with the body\,  nature\, history and ancestors – broadening the way she answers the question: “Who am I?”\n\nJaisa Sulit (she/her/siya) is a neuro-rehab occupational therapist\, medical qigong practitioner and trained teacher of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Mindful Self-Compassion curriculums. She is also the author of “Purpose in Paralysis: From Chronic Pain to Universal Gain” which tells the story of how Jaisa learned to walk and stand in her truth after sustaining a spinal cord injury. Jaisa is a second generation Filipino-Canadian-settler with maternal ancestry from Bataan (lands known for its mountains and over 100 rivers) and paternal ancestry from Los Banos (lands between the sacred Mount Makiling and the largest lake in the Philippines). Jaisa is humbled to be living in Tkaronto (more popularly known as Toronto) with her partner TJ and 2 year old son Jasper. She is grateful and excited for this opportunity to return to the Mindfulness Toronto community and share her stories of healing and wholeness. \nIf you wish to attend simply email  mindfulnesstoronto@gmail.com and request the Zoom link \n  \n
