SUMMARY:The Future of Mindfulness in Hamilton: A community-wide co-creation session
DESCRIPTION:Join mindfulness leaders\, teachers\, and practitioners in a radical imagining of what mindfulness means for Hamilton \n\n\nRegister Here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/the-future-of-mindfulness-in-hamilton-a-community-wide-co-creation-session-tickets-237566276127\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nWhen the COVID-19 pandemic hit\, Mindfulness Hamilton moved our programs on-line. As we recognize the challenges and opportunities of the present moment\, Mindfulness Hamilton’s Core Committee thought this was a good time to reflect on the needs of the community we serve and start to source new ideas for how and who we might serve better. \nRather than a strategic planning process\, we wish to engage our community in a bottom-up creative process to collectively explore opportunities in the current and future environments. \nWe are inviting all of our members\, and everyone who has been a committee member or volunteer to participate in one or both of our co-creation sessions\, along with anyone who has an interest in mindfulness education and support\, including mindfulness teachers and facilitators. \nThese interactive planning and design sessions will give participants a bird’s eye view of how Mindfulness Hamilton has been serving the community\, surface emerging needs and hopes from each participant about how we might go further\, and co-create sketches of future possibilities for the organization. \nPart 1: Sourcing New Ideas – Saturday Feb 26\, 2022 10-12 AM via Zoom \n\nSurface emerging\, unmet needs in our community and dream big about how we can meet those needs.\n\nPart 2: Ideas into Action – Saturday Mar 26\, 2022 10-12 AM via Zoom \n\nThe best ideas from Part 1 will be shared and turned into concrete plans\, experiments\, and actions to bring them to life.\n\nThe sessions will be interesting and fun. A number of different mindfulness and creativity exercises including breakout sessions will help to unleash our collective creative juices. The process will generate ideas and insights that can help us plan the way forward for our organization. \nWhether you are new to mindfulness or have a longstanding practice and/or promote or teach mindfulness\, this will be a wonderful and unique opportunity to learn and interact with like minded people who share common goals.. \nPlease consider joining us for one or both sessions. You do not need to attend the first session to attend the second one. \nIf you have questions\, please contact us at mindfulnesshamilton@gmail.com \nFacilitator: Sean Park\, PhD \nSean is a teaching professor in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University. Through his highly experiential way of teaching\, he inspires business\, engineering\, and health science students to design and create new futures with empathy\, creativity\, insight\, and foresight. His doctoral work in contemplative studies and arts education\, training as a mindfulness educator\, and adventures in global healing traditions lends a unique perspective to the history and future of mindfulness. \n\n\n\n\n
