SUMMARY:Mindful Self Compassion 8-Week Training Course
DESCRIPTION:  \nAre you too hard on yourself? Would you like to learn to motivate yourself with compassion instead of criticism? MSC is an evidence-based 8-week\, training program designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. Based on the groundbreaking research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer\, MSC teaches core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in their lives with kindness\, care and understanding. Participants learn to stop being so hard on themselves\, to motivate themselves with kindness rather than criticism\, to handle difficult emotions with more ease\, to handle caregiver stress with more ease\, and more. Research has shown that MSC training results in increases in self-compassion\, mindfulness\, and compassion for others; decreases in depression\, anxiety\, stress\, and emotional avoidance; and\, increases in social connectedness\, life satisfaction\, and happiness. If you are in a helping position or profession\, such as parenting\,  physicians\, social workers\, psychologists\, RPs\, teachers\, nurses\, physiotherapists\, etc.\, this course not only helps you on a personal level\, i.e. builds your capacity to experience less burn-out\, it also gives you Professional Development: new skills to both help and teach to the people you work with! You are not required to be in one of those professions to participate in this course\, nor is previous experience with meditation required.  Mary Linda Burgess and Natalie Sobel\, both Trained Teachers (from The Center for Mindful Self Compassion) and MSWs are grateful to bring this course to Hamilton once again\, LIVE and IN PERSON (hurray!) unless we go into lockdown again at the time of the course\, in which case we will pivot to the online platform (and reduce the fee). A limited number of scholarship spots are available. Please email Natalie for more information and registration info: natalie.msc@bell.net.
