However\, without the proper awareness or safeguards in place\, the very practice of yoga\, mindfulness and other meditative practices can be unintentionally re-traumatizing. The act of becoming more mindfully present through focus on the breath\, body or through certain intentional movements or postures can trigger procedural memories\, emotions or physical sensations that are painful or overwhelming. Some students and clients may find themselves discouraged\, upset or coping by bottling up\, overriding or dissociating\, reluctant to return.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\nExplore the neuroscience of trauma\, stress and emotional dysregulation\nFind out how yoga and mindfulness practices can backfire\nIdentify ways to minimize the risk of triggering trauma responses\nIntegrate new skills and practices to enhance and adapt your existing approaches\nUnderstand your own triggers and how to work with them\n\nFor a comprehensive overview: traumainformedyoga.ca/training-info/overview/ \nThis in-depth\, 8-day training is offered in 2 separate modules\, to allow time for rest and integration of the material between workshops.  The training is offered in a retreat format to emphasize yoga teacher self-care as an all-inclusive destination experience.  Vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue\, common issues for those working in the field of trauma care\, are also explored. \nLevel 1 content: traumainformedyoga.ca/training-info/level-1/ \nLevel 2 content: traumainformedyoga.ca/training-info/level-2/ \nNote: The order of the content covered in levels 1 and 2 has been revised\, with some new content being added.  Website will be updated soon. \nThe training is equal parts professional development and personal growth\, as a yoga teacher’s capacity for embodied self-regulation and therapeutic presence is one of the strongest tools available for supporting students.  The training is offered in a retreat format to emphasis yoga teacher self-care\, and the topics of vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue will also be explored\, in acknowledgment of the impact of the work on teachers. \nCome join us\nClick here to REGISTER:\nEarly bird rate: $495 + HST per Level\nOctober 9\, 2016: Early bird deadline for Level 1\nNovember 22\, 2016: Early bird deadline for Level 2\nRegular rate: $595 + HST per Level \n\nSugar Ridge Retreat Centre \nContact Liz Frost at Sugar Ridge to inquire about accommodations and meal plans \n\n\n\n\nTrainers: \n\nCaroline Owen\, BA\, E-RYT500\, Wavelengths Yoga Studio and School\nwww.wavelengthsyoga.com\n\nSarah Schlote\, MA\, RP\, SEP\, The Refuge: Centre for Healing and Recovery\nwww.healingrefuge.com
