DESCRIPTION:Overview: \nThis 10-week course is geared specifically towards health care professionals and designed to promote both personal wellness and professional resilience and capacity. SUMMARY:MBSR Program March 31 - May 29
DESCRIPTION:A new MBSR program will begin on Wednesday MARCH 30th\, 2016. This group will run every week for 8 weeks ending on Wednesday MAY 29th\, 2016. The retreat day will be scheduled for either WEDNESDAY MAY 4th or SATURDAY MAY 7th\, 2016 (group consensus). This course will help you by: · Introducing the theory and practice of mindfulness meditation which is based upon the mindfulness approach developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn . · Learning how to develop your own daily mindfulness meditation practice . · Learning how to enhance moment-to-moment awareness\, decrease emotional and physical symptoms\, and respond to stressors in more rewarding ways. “By living mindfully\, we can overcome stubborn mental patterns and live more joyfully.” Location – 326 Locke Street South  Time –     From 4:30 to 7:00 pm What to Bring  – nothing – there will be cushions/mats and a variety of different meditation devises for people to try out. If you are already a practitioner of meditation\, then feel free to bring your own. Dress in comfortable clothing and layers is best. We will be sitting on a carpeted floor – there are chairs for people that may have difficulty with the floor. The MBSR program cost is $300 for 8 weeks including the retreat day. SUMMARY:Mindfulness & Wisdom: A Daylong Insight Meditation Retreat with Donna Paige & Jill Davey
DESCRIPTION:As we transition from Winter to Spring\, join us for a day of silence and witness the benefits of settling into the body and quieting the mind.  Mindfulness fosters a calm steadiness and present moment awareness.  Wisdom is cultivated through meditative and experiential inquiry.  Insight Meditation brings the integration of Mindfulness and Wisdom into our formal practice and daily lives\, creating a refuge for finding the ground as we navigate and welcome change.  Your daylong practice will be supported with instructions\, guided and silent meditation\, alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation\, dharma talks and mindful eating. Curious about what it would be like to spend a contemplative day in silence with others?  New students are invited and encouraged to attend\, as well as those with meditation experience. Sunday\, April 3 10:00am-4:30pm $55 + HST registration required by March 18. A gluten-free vegetarian lunch will be provided by B.Love In the Buddhist tradition of generosity\, the teachers will be accepting ‘dana’ or donations at the end of the retreat to support the continuation of the teachings. Donna Paige has been engaged in Buddhist inquiry and practice for nearly 20 years.  She completed a 5-year Mentorship Program with Norman Feldman and Molly Swan in 2014 and has been influenced by teachers at Spirit Rock Meditation Centre in California\, Insight Meditation Society and Barre Centre for Buddhist Studies in Massachusetts.  Recently retired from a career as a Couple and Family Therapist\, Donna has been teaching Mindfulness and Insight Meditation classes at various venues in the Hamilton area since 2007. Jill Davey has been teaching Hatha Yoga and Meditation since 2003.  She is the founder and teacher at RiverSound Retreat in Fergus\, Ontario.  She has been devoted to studying and practicing Vipassana Meditation since her first retreat in 2008.  She is an experienced teacher and has been mentored by Molly Swan and Norman Feldman to lead residential retreats. SUMMARY:MINDFUL LEADERSHIP FOR FORMAL LEADERS
DESCRIPTION:Mindfulness is a way of meeting life’s challenges with greater calm and wisdom by paying attention to the present moment with openness and curiosity.  Mindfulness is fast becoming a proven way for leaders to sustain themselves and their teams in challenging times.  These workshops will introduce formal leaders to mindfulness concepts and practices\, exploring the synergy between mindfulness\, self-reflection and effective leadership. Participants will be given tools to promote personal self -awareness\, stress management\, resilience and emotional/physical well-being. Leadership effectiveness will be enhanced through exposure to practices that develop listening and communication skills\, sharpen focus\, improve interpersonal relationships and deepen wisdom to enable better decision-making. \nThere are 2 full-day workshops:  Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 can be taken on its own or combined with Part 2.  Part 1 will introduce basic concepts and skills\, as well as illustrate ways that mindful leadership can be applied in day-to-day situations.  Part 2 will allow participants the opportunity to examine typical leadership challenges in greater depth\, using the skills of mindful leadership. \nEach workshop will involve a variety of mindfulness exercises. \nThese workshops are based on the book Mindful Leadership by Maria Gonzalez\, which will be on loan to participants.
