SUMMARY:Grief Resides Among Us: A Mindful Approach
DESCRIPTION:Grief resides among us\, every day. \nGrief is something we all encounter throughout our lives. Whether it’s the loss of a loved one\, a job or career\, a relationship\, or even the gradual loss of physical or mental abilities due to aging or illness\, grief is a natural companion to these changes. \nOn a broader scale\, as we navigate the complexities of coexisting in the world\, many of us may also grieve for the suffering around us\, whether it is close to home or across the globe. \nGrief has the power to reshape who we are\, influencing how we connect with others and move through life. Mindfulness doesn’t take away grief but provides a way to move through it with compassion. Mindfulness can support the grieving process by fostering patience\, acceptance\, and non-judgment\, creating the space to cope and heal. \nThis two-hour interactive and experiential session offers an opportunity for everyone to explore mindful and compassionate ways to support themselves and others on the journey through grief. The goal is to provide practical tools for approaching grief with greater awareness. This workshop serves as a valuable introduction to understanding and managing grief mindfully. \nFee: Early bird until November 6th: $15 members; $25 non-member*; $5 student/unwaged\, Reg: $20 members; $30 non-member*; $10 student/unwaged \n*Note: Membership in Mindfulness Hamilton is $25 per year \nPurchase tickets for this event here.

SUMMARY:Burlington Mindfulness Group
DESCRIPTION:Join Us at Burlington Mindfulness  \nBased in Burlington\, Ontario\, our drop-in group meets twice a month to talk about and practice mindfulness\, meditation\, and related topics. Everyone is welcome to attend and pre-registration is not required. Mindfulness practice is an effective way of coping with stress\, anxiety disorders\, depression\, grief\, pain\, and helps to cultivate more calm and inner peace. \nMindfulness is the ability to be fully present in the moment\, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. It sounds straightforward\, but can be challenging. We are often distracted from the present moment by thoughts\, worries\, emotions\, technology and excess information. We go through our days\, weeks\, and months on “auto-pilot” instead of living in an intentional\, appreciative\, and mindful way. We rarely make time for quiet reflection\, which we need now more than ever in our stressful world. There are many ways to be mindful in addition to meditation. \n\nFor more information contact sandyamodio@gmail.com\n\nWhat is Mindfulness? \n“Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes\, being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way.” James Baraz \n“Every one of us already has the seed of mindfulness. The practice is to cultivate it.”  \nThich Nhat Hanh

DESCRIPTION:We invite you to spend a peaceful hour meditating with others at the Putman Family YWCA. The sessions will be led by experienced facilitators\, giving you exposure to different approaches to mindfulness meditation from mostly guided to mostly silent. The meditation period is 30-45 minutes followed by 15 minutes of questions and discussion. \nPlease bring a mat and cushion if you have them. We will also have chairs and some mats on hand. \nStreet parking is available and you may also use the parking lot at the Crown Point Community Church north of the Y. \nNo matter your level of experience with mindful meditation\, you will benefit from this hour break from everyday life. \nYou are welcome to decide to come at the last minute. However we ask that you register in advance if possible so that we can notify you if there are any changes in the schedule. Registering will also put you on a list to be notified of other meditation opportunities we are planning for the future. To register in advance go to EVENT BRITE

SUMMARY:Meditation on Locke Monday\, Wednesday\, and Friday mornings from 8:30 to 9:15 AM
DESCRIPTION:Start your day with presence and peace. We meet three times a week—Monday\, Wednesday\, and Friday mornings from 8:30 to 9:15 AM at So’ham Studio (361 Jackson St W\, right off Locke Street in Hamilton). \nWhether you’re new to meditation or already have a practice\, this is a welcoming space to build consistency\, deepen your experience\, and connect with like-minded people. \nSessions are led by Aviva Zeldman-Shore\, a meditation instructor trained through Buddhist Geeks\, with hundreds of hours of retreat and group meditation experience. \nAviva is a hypnotist with Navya Hypnosis and is obtaining her Masters in Psychology from City University. \nShalom Shore is an experienced meditator in the Goenka Vipassana meditation tradition. He holds a Masters in Clinical Sociology from the University of North Texas and an MBA from Western Governors University. \n \nOur meditation offerings are donation-based through the Buddhist principle of Dana —there’s no set fee\, and everyone is welcome.
