SUMMARY:The MindWell Journey with Dr. Geoffrey Soloway on Zoom April 15 1-2 PM a FREE Mindfulness Toronto Community workshop
DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\n\n\nLearn more about Dr. Soloway’s wellness programs on Wednesday\, April 15th @ 1PM EST! \n\n\n\n\nWhile traditional mindfulness often begins in stillness\, its greatest impact is revealed in life’s most demanding moments. In this session\, Dr. Geoffrey Soloway\, founder of MindWell-U\, shares his Mindfulness-in-Action methodology\, a framework designed to support real-time self-regulation\, focus\, and resilience with five research studies illustrating both the personal well-being benefits and application to professional performance. \nDrawing on over 20 years of research and experience developing innovative workplace mental wellness programs\, Geoff will trace the evolution of MindWell Take 5 technique\, a cue-based mindfulness practice that has served over 150\,000 unique users since 2016. \nThe talk also explores the intersection of mindfulness and technology\, including the MindWell AI Coach\, which leverages a unique tool to provide support and guidance on the MindWell platform\, as well as capabilities for customizing new content and programs. \nGeoff will further highlight the next phase\, MindWell House\, a boutique performance training facility in Victoria\, BC\, integrating Heart Rate Variability (HRV) biofeedback\, 5 acres of nature\, and thermal contrast (sauna and cold immersion) to create a reset for today’s leaders and teams. \nDr. Geoffrey Soloway\, PhD\, Founder of MindWell-U\, holds a PhD and Master’s in Education from the University of Toronto\, specializing in mindfulness and holistic well-being\, and a certificate in Organizational Coaching from the University of British Columbia. His personal pursuits include completing a Yoga Teacher Training in 2002\, participating in a month-long silent meditation retreat in 2007. In his 20’s Geoff extensively explored Canada\, having slept in a tent in every province and territory\, and for the past 15 years he has heated his home on the west coast by woodstove exclusively. \nConnect with Dr. Geoffrey Soloway on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/geoffsoloway/\nmindwellu.com\nmindwellhouse.com \nTo register please go to EVENT BRITE

SUMMARY:Mindfulness Compassion and Racism: An Anti-Oppressive Approach to Adult Education\, Thursday Feb 5 12-1PM
DESCRIPTION:A  FREE  Mindfulnes Toronto Community Event on line workshop (Zoom) \nMindfulness practice has been shown to deepen self-awareness\, strengthen our capacity to regulate emotions\, and support healthier relationships with others. It is also a key component of compassion\, which begins with awareness and clear seeing into our stress and suffering\, both individual and collective. Compassion involves acknowledging this stress and suffering\, together with the wish\, or the actions\, to help alleviate it. \nWhile mindfulness and compassion are increasingly recognized for their benefits\, there has been limited research exploring how these practices are experienced by racialized adults. In this presentation\, I will draw from my research to explore how people who identify as Indigenous or Black\, South or East Asian\, Middle Eastern\, and other ethnic minorities living in Canada (referred to here as BIPOC—Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Colour) experience racism or oppression\, and how mindfulness or compassion practices\, integrated with ancestral\, community\, and cultural practices may support them in processing these experiences \nThe broader aim of this work is to expand understanding and support educators and clinicians in developing anti-oppressive\, inclusive\, and culturally sensitive approaches to mindfulness-based education and care. By grounding mindfulness and compassion in lived realities\, this research seeks to contribute to practices that genuinely support well-being and autonomy among BIPOC individuals and communities. \nIn addition to discussion\, the session includes an experiential component. Participants are invited to engage in mindfulness and compassion practices\, along with guided reflection\, to explore how these approaches might be thoughtfully integrated into their own teaching\, clinical practice\, or research. \nAbout the presenter \nRose Mina Munjee is a PhD candidate in Education at the University of Reading in the UK. She has written for DIME\, Canadian Journal of Buddhist Studies\, and Mindful.org. She developed and taught “Mindfulness-Informed Interventions for Mental Health” at the University of Toronto and curated a speaker series entitled\, “Diverse Perspectives in Mindfulness and Mental Health.” She is a Registered Psychotherapist and certified teacher\, mentor\, and teacher trainer of evidence based Mindfulness programs (MBSR\, MBCT\, MSC). She develops curricula and has taught mindfulness-based interventions at the Center for Mindful Self Compassion\, the Centre for Mindfulness Studies\, the University of Toronto\, UCSD Mindfulness\, and for various corporations and in healthcare. SUMMARY:Mindfulness Hamilton Fall Retreat: Exploring Four Mindful Awareness Baskets
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Four Mindful Awareness Baskets\nSaturday\, October 25th\, 9am to 4pm\nSt. Cuthbert’s Presbyterian Church\, 2 Bond Street N\, Hamilton \nJoin us for a one-day workshop with Har-Prakash Khalsa to explore four fundamental yet contrasting and complementary approaches to developing Mindful Awareness. Har-Prakash will guide us through a meditation for each approach\, followed by a discussion where participants may share meditation experiences and ask questions.  \nThe Four Mindful Awareness Baskets are: \n\n Naming and Knowing – This approach empowers focused attention\, enabling us to recognize and establish a steady level of mindful awareness. It is particularly beneficial for those who experience distractions during meditation or throughout their day – which is just about everyone!\n Nurture Positive – This technique focuses on finding\, creating\, and sustaining positive emotions and thoughts. It serves as a counterbalance to the negativity bias and distressing emotions we encounter\, and cultivates an optimal foundation for improving our behaviors\, situations\, and relationships and achieving our goals. \n Do Nothing – The heart of the Do Nothing technique is the ability to skillfully let go of controlling or directing our attention while remaining effortlessly aware. This can lead to a sense of freedom from our conventional\, limited identity.  \n Turn Back – This approach turns our attention back toward pure awareness and can lead to a deep sense of fulfillment that is independent of conditions.\n\nThe Four Mindful Awareness Baskets is based on a framework developed by Shinzen Young that organizes the methods of diverse contemplative traditions\, East and West. Sufficiently practicing and integrating these approaches leads to the following:  \n\nExperiencing who you are at the deepest levels. \nReducing your suffering and increasing your fulfillment.\nShowing up fully to your life and being of optimal service to others.  \n\nThis workshop is suitable for meditators of all levels. \nHar-Prakash has been teaching and practicing meditation since 1984. He is the creator of the Cultivating the Jewel of Mindfulness Practitioner Training Program and Retreat Guide\, based on Shinzen Young’s mindfulness system and psychological-relational teachings. \nYou can find more about Har-Prakash and what he offers at https://www.cultivatingthejewel.com. Listen to a Mindfulness Hamilton podcast with Har-Prakash 3 | Har-Prakash Khalsa by Hamilton Talks Mindfulness \nFees*:\nEarly bird:  Member  $80 Non-member $100** Financial Hardship $50 \nAfter October 18th: Member $90  Non-member $110 Financial Hardship $60 \n*Fee includes snacks and drinks during breaks. DESCRIPTION:Being Unblended: Effortless Mindfulness Meets Internal Family Systems with Dr. Kimberly Sogge C.Psych \nWhat if healing didn’t require efforting your way to peace\, but instead relaxing into the Self that’s already here? In this experiential talk\, clinical psychologist and mindfulness teacher Dr. Kimberly Sogge will explore the intersection of Loch Kelly’s Effortless Mindfulness and Richard Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems (IFS)—two elegant\, compassionate approaches to awakening and psychological healing. \nTogether\, we will: \n\nExplore how the IFS model of “Self” aligns with the open-hearted awareness of effortless mindfulness\nPractice gentle “glimpse” meditations that unhook us from the thinking mind into a spacious\, loving presence.\nLearn how to unblend from reactive parts without suppressing or bypassing them\nDiscover how Self-led presence can become a trustworthy inner refuge in daily life and in therapeutic work\n\nWhether you’re a clinician\, a meditator\, or simply someone seeking a kinder relationship with yourself\, this session will offer tools for integrating nondual awareness and parts work into your mindfulness journey. \nDr. Kimberly Sogge C.Psych is a Canadian Psychologist and the founder of Ottawa River Integrative Mental Health Inc.\, a hybrid group practice offering evidence-based psychology and psychotherapy focused on wellbeing and growth. DESCRIPTION:Join Mindfulness Hamilton for “A Run for Chris” – August 17th \nMindfulness Hamilton invites all members of Hamilton’s mindfulness community to join us in supporting mental health and substance use care in our City. We are entering a MH Team to walk or run 5km in the 4th annual “A Run for Chris”. The event is held in honour of Chris Owens who grew up in Waterdown. SUMMARY:Mindful Parenting: a Free Mindfulness Toronto Community Meeting with Dr. Marina Heifetz Tuesday July 8 12:00 PM to 1 PM EST
DESCRIPTION:“The wonderful gift of mindfulness is that we can stop ourselves and ask: What am I feeling? What is it like from my child’s point of view? When you can do that\, you often see things that you didn’t let yourself see before because you were so caught up in the reactive mode\, which is very limiting.” \n~Myla Kabat-Zinn \nThis month\, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Marina Heifetz\, a registered clinical psychologist and founder of Mindful Kids Psychology and Wellness Centre. Drawing from over a decade of mindfulness practice personally and professionally\, Dr. Heifetz will share how mindfulness-based approaches can bring intentional awareness\, presence\, and compassion into family life. Whether you’re a parent\, caregiver\, or simply curious about mindful living\, all are warmly welcome to join us. \nINCORPORATING MINDFULNESS TO SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH OF CHILDREN\, YOUTH AND PARENTS WITH DR. MARINA HEIFETZ\, Ph.D.\, C. Psych \n \nDuring this meeting\, I look forward to sharing how I’ve incorporated mindfulness-based work into therapeutic supports with children\, youth\, and their parents. I will introduce various examples of ways mindfulness can be incorporated to bring intentional awareness and presence\, including self-compassion and breathing practices. \nDr. Marina Heifetz is a registered clinical psychologist specializing in working with children\, adolescents\, and families. She is the owner and clinical director of Mindful Kids Psychology and Wellness Centre. She is passionate about research that contributes to development of appropriate supports for vulnerable populations. She has also been actively volunteering as the Clinical Director with the Special Olympics Strong Minds program since 2016. \nMindfulness has been a powerful\, life-changing experience for Marina; with her knowledge and understanding of it starting 14 years-ago\, when she first became a parent. Her foundational training in MBSR and thereafter various mindfulness-based workshops and conferences have influenced the way she approaches mindfulness practices personally and professionally. \nIn her therapeutic work\, she is particularly drawn to intertwining mindfulness-based strategies in combination with modalities like CBT and ACT to build a strong foundation of awareness and self-compassion. Her ultimate mission is to provide a safe and compassionate space for families to develop resilience. \nDiscover More:\nhttps://mkpsychologycentre.com/ \nTo Register go to Event Brite
